Duncan is delighted that Upcote is safe. And since
the best thing about the camp is that it's the same every year – I
used a picture from Upcote 2004!

Folk have been camping at Upcote Farm for more than a decade. Farmer
John Platt offers the site free of charge and even provides his trailer
to cart all our equipment up the hill and bring it back down again at
the end of the camp.
But this year rumours have spread that John plans to retire and sell
the site, and that this could be the last ever Upcote camp.
Well, we are now able to allay everyone's fears. John says he's not
ready to give up just yet.
"We're hoping to be here for at least another five years. And even if
we did give up farming, we have no plans to actually leave," he told us.
Duncan Siret, veteran of every Upcote camp, welcomed the news.
"That's fantastic. It means that this outstanding tradition of making
the most of the glorious countryside will be able to continue," he said.
"And I can think of at least 140 people that would share those
sentiments." |
