This
family live in a very poor country, by a lovely river.
The country was so poor it had to borrow some money from riches countries.
But the family are happy, because they have built a home
And they can grow their own food
But the rich countries now want their money back…
First they cut down all the trees to make furniture in the rich countries
Next they stopped the family growing their own food and made them grow coffee
for the rich countries.
The family didn’t even own the clothes on their backs…
… except the mother who did own her clothes - damn it!!
But even worse…
The rich countries caused so much pollution… That the whole world heated
up And the climates changed…
It started to rain where the family lived It rained and rained The family
got very wet
The river rose and rose and there was a flood
The
family are trapped on their roof.
The last of their food has washed away
Many people have died in the flood
There are no proper toilets, so people go anywhere
But the family are thirsty and must drink the dirty water…
… first the child drinks
… and gets tummy ache
… then the mother and father drink
… and get sick
So that is how we will leave the family…
Trapped on their roof – hungry, thirsty and sick…
They need help desperately…
